This past weekend was special in more ways than one. Not only did we celebrate a great time with family during our annual Preakness Party, but we also celebrated 20 successful bets—an incredible performance across two days of elite racing at Pimlico.
From Friday’s Black-Eyed Susan Stakes to Saturday’s Preakness, the action delivered, and so did HorseCapper AI.
🏆 Friday Recap: Black-Eyed Susan Stakes (Race 13 – May 16, 2025)
Track: Pimlico Race Course
Race Type: Grade II – George E. Mitchell Black-Eyed Susan S.
Surface: Sloppy Dirt
Final Result: 3-6-5-7-8
(Exacta ✅, Trifecta ✅, Superfecta ✅, Super High Five ✅)
🔍 Race Breakdown
#3 Margie’s Intention was the standout from the beginning — a clear form-cycle play with the right pace profile and the proven Cox/Prat connection. Her stalking style was ideal for the off-track conditions, and she ran like a true anchor.
#6 Paris Lily was upgraded specifically because of her proven slop record and lone-speed dynamics. Even though she didn’t wire, she held on gamely for second, confirming that speed in the slop still matters — especially with past form to support it.
#5 Kinzie Queen was a grinder we were high on due to improving figures and strong stamina. She fit the profile for these kinds of attrition races, and finishing third validated the power of our slop-adjusted analysis.
#7 Reply and #8 Amarth rounded out the Super and Super High Five — both were correctly identified as deeper exotic fillers based on back class and trip potential.
💡 Key Lessons from Friday
Stamina > Speed in Slop: Grinder types can rise when the pace softens. Kinzie Queen moving into third reinforced this.
Lone Speed Still Matters: Paris Lily didn't win, but her slop form + trip made her dangerous, and she delivered underneath.
Don’t Skip Mid-Tier Fillers: Horses like Reply and Amarth won’t top your ticket but are often the difference-makers in deeper exotics.
🐎 Saturday Recap: 150th Preakness Stakes (Race 13 – May 17, 2025)
Track: Pimlico
Race Type: Grade I – Preakness Stakes
Final Result: 2-9-7-1
(Another profitable race across multiple verticals)
🔍 Race Breakdown
#2 Journalism was our top-rated horse heading into the race, and he did exactly what was expected — stalked beautifully and took over when the time was right. This was a great example of sticking with a class standout when the trip sets up perfectly.
#9 Gosger was the surprise of the day, finishing second. We had him marked as a chaos candidate for underneath, but this performance suggests we need to float improving 3YOs up into 2nd slots more often — not just 3rd/4th.
#7 Sandman reminded us of the value in honest grinders. While he rarely jumps off the page as a win pick, his stamina and consistency are a Trifecta/Superfecta dream when the pace isn’t blazing.
#1 Goal Oriented showed what happens to early speed types in pressured pace setups — solid enough to hang for 4th, but exposed late.
💡 Key Lessons from Saturday
Trip > Hype: Journalism had the right class, form, and trip. The combination made him the safest key of the day.
Elevate Chaos Types: Gosger’s improvement pattern and recent wins were enough to merit inclusion in 2nd, not just 3rd/4th.
Grinders Keep Cashing: Sandman did what grinders do — floated into 3rd and paid off for those who kept him in deep exotics.
Pace Pressure Exposes Speed: Goal Oriented couldn’t hang on for more than 4th. Speed alone isn’t enough under pressure.
🎯 Takeaway: Structure > Selection
The key takeaway from this weekend isn’t just that our picks performed—it’s that our approach to structure worked. From respecting pace and surface conditions, to elevating grinders and chaos horses at the right times, the system continues to prove its value.
We don't bet hoping for miracles—we bet with logic, patience, and adaptability. That’s the HorseCapper AI difference.
